65,000 Birthday Cards For Captain Tom As Total Raised Hits £28 Million

Cards have now started pouring in for Captain Thomas Moores 100th birthday. The south midlands mail centre in Northampton has already received more than 65,000 cards for the 99-year-old. The Captain turns 100 later this month on the 30th of April, royal mail expects to receive thousands of more cards. There have been so many cards that the captain now has a large number of dedicated collection boxes. The boxes then get sent on to Bedford School where the hall has kindly been lent as a temporary sorting office. With safe distancing measures, a team of volunteers then sort through the thousands of cards. The Captains grandson Benjie was at his school to receive the first delivery of cards, he thanked the public and everyone involved.

The Captain has now raised more than 28 million for NHS charities and the total is still growing. If you would like to donate to the Captain then please click here.
